Cut the spring onions correctly – that’s how it works

To cut the scallions properly, you need a very sharp knife and a cutting board.

  1. First, wash the spring onions thoroughly under running water.
  2. After drying the onion, remove the root end and any wilted or unsightly leaves.
  3. Then place the spring onions on a board and cut lengthwise – depending on what you want to use the onions – thicker or narrower slices.
  4. If you position the knife at a slight angle when cutting, the onion will be much easier to cut.
  5. Tip: Only cut the spring onions just before you want to use them.
