Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 1 kg beef goulash
- 1 large onion(s)
- 1 bunch of leeks
- 2 bell peppers
- 1 garlic clove(s)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- ½ liter of dark beer
- 1 bay leaf
- 250 g mushrooms
- 250 ml meat broth
- 1 cup of cream, 200 ml
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp thyme
- cornstarch
- salt and pepper
- Paprika powder
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 30 minutes
for the Dutch Oven
Sear the goulash and mushrooms in a Dutch oven. Briefly sear the tomato paste and deglaze the pan with the dark beer. Add the remaining ingredients and place 6 coals on the bottom and 12 on top in the Dutch oven. Stir occasionally. After about 2 hours, the goulash is ready and just needs to be seasoned to taste with salt, pepper, and paprika. Thicken the sauce with cornstarch until it reaches the desired consistency.
