Deep Fried Coca-Cola

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 220 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 360 ml cola
  • Oil, for frying
  • powdered sugar
  • whipped cream
  • Cherry(s) (cocktail cherries)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Mix flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add eggs and Coca-Cola and mix until smooth. The batter should be runny; if not, thin it with Coca-Cola. Heat the oil to just under 190°C (in a deep fryer). Pour a portion of batter (approx. 80 ml) into a funnel. Roll out a spiral circle as it is placed in the hot oil. Allow about 1 minute per side before turning. While still warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with whipped cream and a cocktail cherry. Traditionally, they are served with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, and a cocktail cherry.
