Delicious apple compote

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg apples (e.g. Boskoop), peeled
  • 200 ml apple juice, naturally cloudy
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 pack of pudding powder (vanilla flavor) for cooking
  • 3 tbsp apple juice to mix
  • possibly dessert sauce (vanilla flavor)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Bring the sugar, lemon juice, apple juice, and apple slices to a boil in a covered saucepan and simmer for 3-5 minutes. Stir the custard powder with 3 tablespoons of the juice until smooth. Pour into the compote while stirring and cook for 1 minute. Let the compote cool. It tastes even better with a dash of vanilla sauce!
