Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

In a bowl, thoroughly mix the ground beef, chopped onion, crushed garlic, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Form into small balls and set aside. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta al dente according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside. For the sauce, heat the olive oil in a saucepan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown. Add the chopped garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes. Add the passata, basil, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat. Carefully add the prepared meatballs to the tomato sauce and cover the pot. Simmer the meatballs over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, until tender and the flavors are well blended. Add the pasta to the pan with the meatballs and tomato sauce. Mix everything well and heat briefly again. Divide among plates, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve with grated Parmesan cheese.
