Depression: This Breakfast Can Help

Depression needs treatment. But you can also do something for the recovery yourself – for example, a certain breakfast should help against depression.

Depression is as individual as each person. Unfortunately, there is no panacea for this either. While medication helps some patients, others feel more comfortable with talk therapy. Either way, someone who is depressed is not just in a bad mood. Depression is an illness.

A feeling of helplessness is often plaguing you – you feel at the mercy of the disease, unable to do anything about your low mood. Sport helps with some. other relaxation.

Diet for depression

Now there is definitely positive news for those affected. Diet also seems to play a big role in well-being, especially the first meal of the day. Because it provides us with nutrients that not only our muscles but also our brain needs to work. Breakfast is therefore particularly important for people with depression.

At the same time, the blood sugar level is also influenced by food. Anyone who has ever had hypoglycemia knows how much this in turn influences our mood. We get tired, listless and above all in a bad mood.

You can counteract this in the morning. Nutritionist Melissa Brunetti told Business Insider what people with depression should eat. And on the breakfast menu: eggs!

They provide us with sufficient amino acids, vitamin D, and important fats in the morning. They also regulate the blood sugar level and keep us full for a long time. The fatty acids in particular are important for the supply of our brain – that’s why avocados, for example, are recommended. They even put you in a good mood because they contain tryptophan, a precursor of serotonin.
