Dessert Poached Figs

The perfect dessert poached figs recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 4 piece Figs fresh

For the brew:

  • 4 tbsp Sugar
  • 200 ml White wine
  • 4 tbsp Honey
  • 1 piece Fresh ginger approx. 3 cm
  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick

For the cream

  • 250 g Mascarpone
  • 250 g Natural yoghurt
  • 1 pinch Pepper from the grinder

Preparatory work

  1. Wash, pat dry and peel the figs. Cut the ginger into small slices.

Preparation of the brew

  1. Caramelize the sugar in a saucepan until it is light golden brown. Deglaze with white wine. The caramel sugar becomes very hard and then dissolves again. Add the honey, a cinnamon stick and the ginger slices.
  2. Let the stock boil over medium heat for 2 minutes. Reduce the heat, add the peeled, whole figs and let everything simmer for 5 minutes, turning the figs 2-3 times.
  3. Remove the figs from the stock and reduce the wine stock to a syrupy level over high heat and allow to cool. Remove the cinnamon stick. Take out the ginger slices and cut into small pieces.

Preparation of the cream

  1. Mix the mascarpone with natural yoghurt, pieces of ginger, 1-2 tbsp wine syrup (to taste) and a pinch of ground pepper until creamy.

Serving

  1. Spread the cream on dessert plates or bowls and place a fig on each one. Serve sprinkled with pepper.
