Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 pack of toast or 5 stale rolls
- ½ liter of milk
- 80 g sugar
- 50 g hazelnuts, ground
- 70 g raisins
- 500 g apples
- 200 ml milk
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 20 g butter

Beggar
Halve the toast and pour sweetened milk over it. Wash and drain the raisins. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Grease a baking dish. Alternate the toast, apple slices, ground hazelnuts, and raisins. Mix the eggs with the milk, add salt and vanilla sugar, and pour the egg wash over the ingredients in the dish. Sprinkle the casserole with breadcrumbs and sugar, top with knobs of butter, and bake at 180°C for 40-45 minutes.
