Sweet rice casserole according to Great Grandma Marie

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cup rice pudding
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 5 apples or the equivalent amount of plums or apricots
  • 100 g butter
  • some cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

No eggs, no pre-cooking – so easy!

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Pour the rice pudding, sugar, and milk into a casserole dish and stir to combine. The casserole dish should be large enough to fill only halfway, as otherwise the milk could boil over. Place the casserole on the middle rack of the oven. Peel and core the apples, and slice them (prepare other fruit accordingly). Bake the casserole until a skin forms on the surface, which should take 20-30 minutes, so check frequently! Then top the casserole with the apple slices (or plums or apricots). Sprinkle with cinnamon and finish baking. The total oven time is 60 minutes. Brown the butter in a small saucepan and pour it over the casserole before serving.
