Dolce Gusto Machine Does Not Draw Water – That May Be the Reason

Dolce Gusto doesn’t draw water: the solution

If the machine only hums for a few seconds and then gives up – usually with a warning flashing power switch lamp – air has usually accumulated in the water circuit of the machine. This happens when the machine has not been used for a long time and/or has been stored incorrectly – for example lying flat. How to solve the problem:

  • Fill the water tank, insert it and turn on the machine. In addition (if available) insert an old coffee capsule.
  • Once the Dolce Gusto has heated up, press the button for hot water dispensing.
  • When the machine starts to pump, take the water tank, lift it a few millimeters and put it back on immediately. Do this over and over until the machine stops pumping. Then start over.
  • By moving, you are manually pushing air out of the system. Repeat the process until the Dolce Gusto draws water again. Depending on the amount of air, 10 to 15 passes are necessary. Patience is required here.

Dolce Gusto does not draw water: The pump is defective

If the capsule machine still does not draw any water after several passes, the water pump is probably defective. If your Dolce Gusto is still under warranty, you can contact the seller to complain about the defect. He will give you the right contact person for repairs or replacing the machine. If the guarantee has already expired or you would like to contact the manufacturer directly, proceed as follows:

  1. Visit the Dolce Gusto service page.
  2. Select “Machine complaint Krups” or “Machine complaint DeLonghi” as the topic – depending on the make of your machine.
  3. All machines from the manufacturer are now displayed. Click yours.
  4. Provide the machine reference number. You can find this on the underside of your Dolce Gusto after the abbreviation “SKU”. Also enter the date of purchase.
  5. Fill in your contact details and describe the problem in the “Your question” field.
  6. Submit the request. Dolce Gusto customer service will then contact you.
