Double marinated herring

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 packs of herring fillet(s), in herb marinade
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 150 ml sweet cream
  • 200 ml sour cream
  • 200 ml yogurt
  • 2 tsp curry powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Herb matjes in cream sauce

Remove the herring fillets from the packaging (reserving the oil from one package) and cut into bite-sized pieces. If you prefer, you can leave the fillets whole. Pour the herb oil from one package into a bowl. Add the cream, sour cream, yogurt, and curry powder and mix well. Slice the onion into thin rings, add it to the marinade, and stir briefly. Now add the herring to the marinade and gently fold it in. Let it marinate for 1 hour and serve with warm boiled potatoes.
