Matjes fillet in yogurt and dill cream

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 fish fillets (matjes fillets)
  • 150 g yogurt (full-fat yogurt)
  • 100 g sour cream
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 gherkin(s)
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • Dill, fresh
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Rinse the herring fillets under cold water and pat dry. Combine yogurt with sour cream, lemon juice, and mustard. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar. Mix the finely diced gherkin, capers (optional), and dill with the cream. Serve the sauce over the herring fillets and let it sit for about an hour. It tastes delicious with boiled potatoes and green beans.
