Drinking water is important and healthy, not least because the human body is made up of around 70% water. In this practical tip, we show you what you should consider when drinking.
That is why drinking water is important
The human body consists largely of water. In the blood, in the cells, in the organs. Water is needed almost everywhere for our bodily functions to run smoothly.
- Water is for metabolism
- If you drink too little, there is a risk of functional disorders and even illnesses that can be accompanied by pain and permanent impairments.
- If you sweat a lot or do sports in the summer, drinking water is necessary to keep the circulatory system from collapsing.
- Our exterior also benefits from sufficient water intake. The skin appears plumper and radiant.
How to drink correctly
Opinions differ widely on the amount of water a person should consume each day. The most common answer here is between 1.5 and 2 liters.
- In fact, a lot of water is ingested through food (about 700 milliliters per day). Accordingly, the required amount of water that you have to absorb through drinking is no longer as high.
- The best thing, however, is to listen to your body: if you are thirsty, then you should drink because at these moments your body definitely needs fluids.
- Don’t drink on principle, although a glass of water in the morning is a good idea.
- Children and seniors can use your support. You often do not perceive your thirst properly.
- Prefer tap water to water from plastic bottles. This reduces the risk of absorbing toxins and microplastics.
