How Much Water to Drink a Day During the Heat Wave and What to Eat

Some people should drink less than two liters of water a day, the cardiologist said. It has become known how much water people who have severe heart failure and those who do not have it should drink a day during hot weather. It was also found out what should be added to the diet in the heat.

Those with heart failure should drink a liter and a half of water a day, the Russian cardiologist said. According to her, people who do not have severe heart failure should drink one and a half to two liters of water a day.

The doctor noted that during the heat, the body loses not only water but also mineral elements such as magnesium and potassium. In this regard, the doctor advised adding to the diet something that contains these minerals – vegetables, fruits, herbs, seeds, nuts, and mineral water.

Earlier it was reported that the daily water intake for an adult in hot weather and on days of physical activity should be calculated using the formula of 40 ml per 1 kg of body weight.

The following symptoms may indicate heart failure:

  • Swelling of the legs;
  • Pulmonary edema;
  • Swelling of the abdominal cavity;
  • Fatigue;
  • Difficulty breathing;
  • Cough.
