Drying The Habanero: How To Do It

Preparations for drying the habanero

Before you dry the habaneros, you should do the following points.

  1. Harvest the habaneros just before drying so they are fresh.
  2. The next step is to sort out the damaged pods and wash the ones that are left.
  3. After that, remove the stems and take out the seeds.
  4. Finally, you can cut the habaneros into small pieces according to your wishes.

How to dry the habanero

You can dry habaneros in a day using a dehydrator. Alternatively, drying in the oven is also suitable. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the prepared habaneros on it.
  2. Then insert the baking sheet into the middle level of your oven.
  3. After that, turn on the oven and heat it to 75 degrees Celsius.
  4. Now let the habaneros dry for at least six hours.
  5. If the habaneros are dried, you can take out the pods, let them cool down, and store them in spice jars, for example, for further use.
