While eating a pomegranate before bed isn’t inherently unhealthy, it should be avoided. This is mainly due to the high sugar content, which the body cannot break down during sleep and converts it into fat instead of energy.
Eat pomegranate before bed: Better not
Pomegranate seeds are healthy and contain a number of important vitamins in addition to antioxidants. Still, eating pomegranate in the evening is not a good idea.
- If you would like to snack on pomegranate seeds in the evening, you should do so no more than two hours before going to bed.
- 100 grams of pomegranate seeds contain around 17 grams of fructose. If you eat the seeds just before you go to sleep, your body will not be able to fully absorb the fruit. It is not digested and new fat deposits are formed.
- It is better to put fruit on your menu in the morning. Then the pomegranate can develop its healthy effect and the calories are optimally metabolized throughout the day.
- In the evening, it is better to eat less calorie-rich varieties such as peaches and apples. Pear or watermelon back. Raspberries are also great as a snack.
