Eat The Edge of a Watermelon – That’s How It Gets Really Tasty

How to prepare the edge of the watermelon tasty

In particular, the rind of the watermelon, which is usually disposed of unnoticed, is very healthy. Among other things, the bark contains vitamins C and B6.

  • First remove the red flesh of the watermelon, except for an edge of about one centimeter.
  • After that, remove the thick outer rind of the melon. The easiest way to remove the peel is with an asparagus or potato peeler.
  • Then chop the edge of the melon and put the melon pieces in a saucepan with water and a tablespoon of salt. After the water has boiled, drain it and put the melon pieces in a mason jar.
  • Put a glass of water, honey or wine vinegar, and sugar in equal proportions in a container. A tablespoon or two of a spice blend of ginger, cinnamon, clove, and lemon tops it all off.
  • After you have mixed everything well, pour the liquid into the glass with the melon pieces. The sealed jar is then placed in the fridge for about six hours.
  • Close the jar tightly and place it in the fridge for about six hours.
  • Tip: The melon pieces harmonize particularly well with cheese or chicken.
