Egg on toast from the oven

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slices of toast
  • 4 eggs
  • some cheese, grated
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • some butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

for breakfast, brunch, dinner

Grease a shallow dish (or a baking sheet for larger quantities) with butter. Grate the cheese and cut the bacon into pieces. Arrange the slices of toast close together in the dish and sprinkle thinly with grated cheese. Carefully crack the eggs open and place one egg on each slice of toast. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, or with paprika or other spices if desired, and scatter a little more cheese over the eggs. Top with bacon pieces and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 10-15 minutes, until the eggs have reached the desired consistency. Divide into portions and serve hot from the dish.
