Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 liters of juice (elderberry juice)
  • 1 vanilla pod(s), pulp (or 1 small bottle of vanilla flavoring)
  • 1 dash of lemon juice
  • 750 g brown sugar
  • 1 bottle of schnapps (corn)
  • 1 bottle of Amaretto

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Combine elderberry juice, vanilla seeds (or vanilla flavoring), lemon juice, and sugar in a large saucepan and bring to a boil to dissolve the sugar. Allow the mixture to cool thoroughly. Then mix with the cornstarch and Amaretto. Pour into prepared bottles. This quantity makes approximately 4 bottles. The liqueur is ready to drink and has a very long shelf life. It tastes best chilled, neat, or mixed with a drink. The cooking time is approximate and does not include cooling time.
