Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g flour
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 150 g butter
  • 1,200 g apple
  • 200 ml white wine
  • ½ liter of water
  • 125 g sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp milk

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 35 minutes

Recipe from the Sauerland

For the dough: Knead the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, egg, and softened butter into a dough and chill. For the filling: Peel and core the apples, cut them into wedges, and sauté them in white wine, water, and sugar. Line the bottom and sides of a greased springform pan (approx. 28 cm) with 2/3 of the dough. Roll out the remaining dough to form a lid. Fill the pan with apples, place the lid on top, and brush with beaten egg yolk and milk. Bake at 175 degrees Celsius for approximately 35 minutes.
