Cleansing and care in one: facial tonic fulfills several functions at the same time and is, therefore, part of every complete beauty routine. But how do you find the right product for your skin type and how do you use toner correctly? We have the answers.
Clarifying effect: facial toner
In contrast to washing gel or day cream, facial tonic does not only have one function. In your facial care, it forms the link between facial cleansing and care. In concrete terms, this means: high-quality toner removes the last traces of make-up and dirt from the skin, and provides it with moisture, vitamins, and co. depending on the skin type and also stabilizes its protective acid mantle. This is irritated by the previous cleaning.
By using toner, the tissue is optimally prepared for subsequent care cosmetics such as cream, serum, or the homemade face mask and can optimally absorb their ingredients.
Face tonic: the application
Use facial toner as part of your daily skincare routine in the morning and evening after cleansing. To do this, dab the product onto a cotton pad and then gently rub it over your face. Important: Toner is not washed off. Immediately afterward, pamper your complexion with nourishing care of your choice.
Although toner has cleansing properties, it is not enough to thoroughly remove dirt from the skin. Always use a special cleaning product beforehand.
Here’s how to find facial toner for every skin type
Whether sensitive, dry or greasy: toners are suitable for every complexion. Provided, of course, that you buy the right product and choose the best ingredients to make your own.
The following applies here: Facial tonics for sensitive skin and dry complexions are ideally alcohol-free and contain no fragrances or colorings. They can irritate the fabric and rob it of moisture. Instead, rely on nourishing, soothing active ingredients such as chamomile, rose, or aloe vera.
Facial toners for impure skin and oily skin often contain salicylic acid, marigold, witch hazel, and tea tree oil. These facial tonics work against pimples and painful inflammations, remove excess sebum, and refine the pores.
Mature skin, on the other hand, is happy about moisturizing toners with antioxidants such as squalene, magnesium, hyaluronic acid, or vitamin B3.
