Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 large onions
- 1 ½ tbsp sugar
- 70 ml wine vinegar
- 100 ml sunflower oil
- ½ tsp salt
- pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes
For fish sandwiches etc.
Slice or slice the onions and cut them into onion rings. In a bowl, sprinkle the onion rings with the sugar. Season with salt and pepper, then drizzle with the wine vinegar and finally add the oil. Mix everything together. The marinade should taste strong, but not overpowering. If it’s too strong, add a little water. Place everything in a bowl with a tight-fitting lid, close it, and shake well. It’s best to let it marinate for 1-2 hours, shaking occasionally. Now simply remove it from the sauce and enjoy. I always make the onion rings in advance and then use them over the next 2-3 days in salads, Mettbrötchen (meat sandwiches), salmon sandwiches, etc.
