Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 6 large potatoes
  • 2 kohlrabi
  • 5 m.-sized carrot(s)
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1 cup milk, amount as desired
  • 1 cube of vegetable stock, without flavor enhancers
  • 2 Vienna sausages (chicken wieners)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

creamy children’s stew with potatoes, carrots and kohlrabi

Peel the vegetables, cut into bite-sized pieces, and place in a large pot. Add just enough water to cover by about 2-3 cm. Cover and cook the vegetables over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes. Don’t lift the lid too often; just stir occasionally to make sure the vegetables don’t burn. When the vegetables are soft—depending on how soft you like them—stir in the cream cheese, adding milk if you don’t have enough liquid. Crumble the vegetable stock cube and stir in. Before serving, slice the chicken sausages and fold them in. This vegetable stew is enjoyed by all children and adults alike. Variations are possible, for example, with pumpkin, sweet potatoes, parsnips, parsley root, and similar ingredients.
