Feta cheese bread

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 1 kg flour (wheat flour)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ liter whey (can also be replaced with buttermilk or milk)
  • 2 points yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 250 g sheep’s cheese (feta)
  • 3 large onions

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Roughly mix the feta cheese with 3 tablespoons of lukewarm water. Stir the yeast with the sugar and whey until smooth. Mix the flour with salt and diced raw onion. Add the feta cheese and yeast mixture and knead everything thoroughly. Keep warm and let rise. Knead again, adding more flour. Shape into a loaf and let rise again on a greased baking sheet. Score the surface and brush with oil. Bake at 200°C for 50-60 minutes. This is a popular party bread for us; it grows quite large.
