Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 tbsp oil
- 150 g onion(s), diced
- 50 g bacon, streaky, diced
- 4 sausages, coarse or 400 g seasoned minced meat
- 300 g sauerkraut
- 1 small can of tomatoes
- 1 ½ liters of meat broth
- 1 tsp caraway powder
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
- Thyme
- marjoram
- 1 pinch of chili powder
- Salt
- Sugar
- 3 tbsp sour cream
- some parsley
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes
Brown the onions in oil and remove. Press the sausages into small dumplings, or form the minced meat into dumplings and fry the dumplings with the bacon until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the pan. In a saucepan, sauté the finely chopped sauerkraut in a little oil. Add the canned tomatoes and pour in the meat broth. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the sauerkraut is soft, then add the onions and dumplings. Stir in the caraway seeds, pepper, and paprika. Season the soup with thyme, marjoram, chili powder, salt, sugar, and sour cream. Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
