Fig rolls

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 125 g butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 200 g flour
  • 125 g dried figs
  • 25 g sugar
  • 90 g water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg yolk for brushing
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • e.g. water or lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 25 minutes

Cream the butter, sugar, and egg until fluffy, then stir in the flour. Chill the dough for 20 minutes. In the meantime, puree the figs, bring to a boil with the water, the remaining sugar, salt, and lemon juice, stirring occasionally. Simmer for about 5 minutes, and then cool in a bowl. Roll out the dough thinly on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares approximately 6 x 7 cm. Place about a level teaspoon of the mixture in the center and fold the dough over each of the long sides. Flatten the ends and place seam-down on the baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg yolk and bake at 160 degrees Celsius for about 25 minutes. Makes about 2 baking sheets full. Once cooled, make a powdered sugar glaze by mixing the powdered sugar with water or lemon juice, one teaspoon at a time, and brush the rolls with it.
