Fine herring salad

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 salted herring
  • 250 g leftover roast or cooked meat or hard sausage such as salami, cervelat
  • 2 apples
  • 1 cucumber(s)
  • 3 eggs, hard-boiled
  • 400 g jacket potatoes
  • 1 onion(s)
  • Vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • 125 ml sour cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Chop the soaked salted herring, roast, apples, cucumber, eggs, and potatoes into small pieces for a salad and mix lightly. Grate the onion over the salad, season with a marinade made from vinegar and water, and sugar. Let it marinate, fold in the sour cream, and garnish the salad appetizingly. The potatoes in this salad can be partially or entirely replaced with cooked vegetables (cauliflower, carrots, celery, baby peas).
