Fish baked with mustard sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g fish fillet(s), of your choice
  • 30 g butter
  • 30 g flour
  • 400 ml milk
  • 100 g mustard
  • ½ lemon(s)
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • Salt
  • Pepper, white
  • nutmeg
  • Butter, for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Grease an ovenproof dish with a little butter. Place the fish in it, drizzle with lemon juice, and season with salt and paprika. Melt the butter in a saucepan and sauté the flour, stirring constantly, then pour in the milk. Bring to a boil while stirring, ensuring the sauce is lump-free. Stir in the mustard and season with salt, white pepper, and nutmeg. Spread the mustard sauce over the fish and bake in the oven preheated to 180°C on the middle rack for 20-30 minutes. The cooking time depends on whether you use fresh or frozen fish and the thickness of the fish fillets. A brown crust should form. To achieve this, you can turn the oven up to a higher temperature in the last few minutes or briefly use the grill function. Mashed potatoes go best with this.
