Flambéed bananas with vanilla ice cream

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 115 g butter
  • 90 g brown sugar
  • 4 banana(s), ripe
  • 60 ml rum, dark
  • Ice cream (vanilla ice cream) to serve

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Melt the butter in a large pan. In the meantime, peel the ripe bananas, halve them, and then slice them lengthwise again, so that you have four halves per banana. Once the butter has melted, stir in the sugar and add the bananas. Turn them over so they are coated with the butter/sugar mixture. Now stir in the bananas over medium heat on the stovetop and let everything caramelize. The bananas will break apart a little, so you need to handle them carefully to ensure you still have whole pieces. Once you reach this point and everything is caramelized, pour in the rum and remove the pan from the stove. Light the rum, doing this carefully from a safe distance. The flame will then reduce on its own and go out. Let it cool slightly and arrange in the center of plates while still warm. Top each one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream; this amount is enough for four desserts.
