Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 500 g minced beef
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove(s), finely chopped
- 2 tbsp ketchup, hot
- 1 tbsp mustard, extra hot
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp marjoram, shredded, alternatively 1 bunch freshly chopped
- 1 tsp basil, shredded, alternatively 1 bunch freshly chopped
- Salt
- 4 tbsp oil, for frying
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Peel and chop the onions, peel and chop the garlic clove. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper. NOTE: Dried (shredded) herbs are used here. If you have fresh herbs available, you can add a finely chopped bunch of each. Form the dough into oval patties, yielding about 6 patties. Heat oil in a pan, add the patties, and fry for about 10 minutes on each side until browned and crispy. Serve with potato salad and a cold beer.
