Freezing is a good method of preservation to keep parsley for a long time. How you can freeze fresh parsley, we will show you in the following practical tip.
Freeze parsley – that’s how it works
In order to able to retain the strong flavor of parsley, freezing is the most effective and easiest way to make it last longer. There are different possibilities:
- First, you can freeze the parsley as a whole bunch.
- To do this, you have to wash the herbs, pat them dry, and put them in a freezer bag.
- You can then put it in the freezer and just take it out when you need it.
- Another method, which is often more practical in everyday life, is to freeze small portions of parsley.
- Ice cube molds are ideal for this. Prepare the herbs again, wash them and chop them into small pieces.
- Now you can put the cut pieces into the compartments of the ice cube maker and fill them up with water.
- After freezing, you can always take out the parsley pieces in portions and use them, for example, when cooking and seasoning dishes.
- However, adding water to the parsley loses some of its flavors with this method.
- For longer storage, you can also wrap the small pieces in aluminum foil and keep them in freezer boxes.
