Cheeses with high water content, such as camembert, do not freeze as well as parmesan, for example. This can easily be stored in the freezer.

  • Like most foods, you can extend the shelf life of Camembert by freezing it.
  • However, you have to reckon with the fact that you won’t really be able to enjoy the Camembert on the bread after it has been thawed.
  • Freezing not only makes the cheese soft and very finely crumbly, but it also loses its flavor.
  • However, if you grabbed a special offer and bought too much Camembert, it is best to freeze the cheese in small portions.
  • Place the camembert in a freezer bag as fresh as possible. Squeeze out as much air as possible and seal the bag.
  • Write the freezing date on the freezer bag. Camembert keeps for about two months in the freezer.

Use frozen Camembert

As already mentioned in the first section, once frozen Camembert is no longer suitable for the cheese platter.

  • The texture and appearance just aren’t as nice as they used to be, and the camembert flavor suffers from freezing.
  • However, you can certainly add deep-frozen Camembert as an addition or as a refinement to stir-fries or soups and sauces.
  • Tip: Camembert with high-fat content is ideal for thickening sauces.
  • The frozen Camembert is also suitable for gratinating oven dishes.
  • You don’t have to thaw the cheese for the purposes just mentioned. The heat from the oven takes over and speeds up the defrosting process.
