Freezing Pomegranate Seeds: You Need to Know That

How to freeze the pomegranate seeds

There are several hundred seeds in a pomegranate. Usually, you don’t have use for all cores at once. Pomegranate seeds can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. It is best to freeze the harvest for storage for up to a year.

  • First, you need to remove the seeds from the pomegranate.
  • Place the seeds in one layer in a freezer bag and place them flat in the freezer. This will prevent the cores from sticking together later. They can also be better portioned when you take them out.
  • Tip: squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible. This will prevent freezer burn.
  • Write the freezing date and preferably also the maximum shelf life on the freezer bag.
  • Take out the number of pomegranate seeds you need and let them thaw slowly in the refrigerator.
  • Even if the kernels are not as crunchy as freshly harvested, all the vitamins are present. You can use the kernels as usual after defrosting.
