Mix 110g margarine with the flour, 1 tbsp sugar, and salt until crumbly. Briefly stir in 3 tbsp cold water. Flatten the dough, wrap in cling film, and chill for 1 hour. Roll out on a lightly floured surface, line a greased 35 x 11cm tart tin, and press down well. Peel and core the apples, and cut into thin slices. Place on the dough and sprinkle with the remaining sugar and flakes of margarine. Place in a preheated oven at 180°C (bottom heat with fan). After 20 minutes, reduce the temperature to 150°C and bake for a further 40 minutes. Heat the jam, stir until smooth, and spread it on the still-hot tart.
