Fresh waffles with powdered sugar and hot cherries

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 125 g butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 250 g flour
  • ½ pack of baking powder
  • 200 g whipped cream
  • 150 ml milk
  • 1 jar cherry(s), approx. 720 ml
  • 1 packet of vanilla pudding powder
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • e.g. powdered sugar
  • Fat for the waffle iron

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

For the waffles, cream together butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt. Beat in the eggs and egg yolks one at a time. Mix the flour and baking powder, then stir into the batter alternately with 200g of cream and the milk. Preheat and lightly grease a heart-shaped waffle iron. Bake waffles from the batter. Drain the cherries, reserving the juice. Whisk together the pudding mix, 1 packet of vanilla sugar, and 6 tablespoons of cherry juice until smooth. Bring the remaining juice and 2-3 tablespoons of sugar to a boil. Stir in the pudding mix and simmer for about 1 minute. Add the cherries and let warm through. Serve with the waffles.
