Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 250 g roe, from fresh or salted herring
- 20 g flour
- 50 g butter, or margarine, or oil
- salt and pepper
- lemon juice
Instructions
Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes
If possible, use fresh roe. Soak the salted roe overnight. Carefully wash the roe in fresh water, removing any skin and other debris. Pat dry, season with salt and pepper. Coat in flour and fry in the fat over medium heat. Season with a little lemon juice, if desired. You can also prepare the herring milt in the same way. Serve with toasted bread.
