Fried mozzarella on chunky tomato sauce

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 6 slices of mozzarella
  • 12 tbsp whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg(s), whisked
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes (400 g)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp basil, fresh
  • salt and pepper
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

with wholemeal breadcrumbs

Roll the mozzarella slices in the beaten eggs and coat them in the breadcrumbs. Fry in oil on both sides until golden brown. Meanwhile, for the tomato sauce, combine the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, and basil. Heat all ingredients until softened and season with salt, sugar, and pepper. Serve the crispy fried mozzarella with the sauce.
