Fried potatoes Thuringian style

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 300 g potatoes, mainly waxy
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 pinch(s) of salt and pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) sweet paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp oil or margarine
  • marjoram
  • lots of caraway

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel the potatoes and cut into small pieces, relatively thin slices, or wedges. Peel the onion and chop into small pieces. Heat oil or margarine in a pan. Add the raw potatoes, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle with the seasonings. Fry on all sides until the potatoes are well browned, then add the onions. Variation: Mix in ham or eggs, or add other herbs, if desired. Serve with ketchup, if desired.
