simple, children’s hit

Peel 2 of the 4 oranges, remove the white pith, and cut the oranges into bite-sized pieces. Peel and slice the bananas, wash and core the apple, and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Squeeze the other two oranges and the lemons and pour the juice over the fruit to prevent it from browning. Butter a baking dish and line it with the fruit, scattering pieces of butter and sugar between each piece. Drizzle with the juice and bake the fruit at 180°C for 30 minutes. Peel the kiwis and add them 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time. Serve the fruit warm or cold, with whipped cream if desired. Variations: Grate white chocolate and sprinkle it over the fruit 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time. Sprinkle with slivered almonds or nuts.
