Fruity spicy tomato sauce with orange juice

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp paprika paste
  • 1 large organic orange(s), juice
  • 2 cans of chopped tomatoes (400 g each)
  • 250 g fresh tomatoes
  • 1 piece(s) ginger, approx. 1 cm
  • 1 chili pepper(s), e.g. Bird Eye Chili, Habanero pepper, Jalapeño
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • n. B. Nutmeg
  • e.g. cumin
  • e.g. basil
  • e.g. rosemary
  • e.g. paprika powder
  • some stalks of fresh basil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Finely chop the onion and garlic and sauté in a pan with a little oil. Once the onions are translucent, add the tomato and bell pepper puree and fry briefly. In the meantime, finely chop the fresh tomatoes, ginger, and chili, and juice the orange. Add the tomatoes, ginger, chili, and orange juice to the pan, fry, and reduce slightly. Season to taste with spices (e.g., salt, pepper, nutmeg, cumin, basil, rosemary, and paprika) and garnish with a few sprigs of fresh basil.
