Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Great side dish to grilled food, salad or wine.
Cut a loaf of white bread (a white baguette will also work) into approximately 12 slices. The bread should remain tightly wrapped at the bottom. Mix the crushed garlic, finely chopped chili peppers, chopped herbs (frozen if desired), feta cheese (finely crushed with a fork), lemon juice and zest, walnuts, and butter (using a hand mixer) until a smooth paste forms. Open the bread like a fan and spread the paste on both sides of each slice. Then press the bread together firmly and spread the squeezed-out mixture over the outside of the bread. Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30-40 minutes. If you have any leftover garlic butter, it also tastes great with pasta or vegetables!
