GDR – Salad

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 Bockwurst
  • 4 tbsp butter, soft
  • 4 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp chives
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 2 small gherkins
  • 2 eggs, hard-boiled
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

a kind of meat salad, tastes good on strong bread

Cut the sausages, eggs, and gherkins into small cubes and place them in a bowl. Whisk the butter with mustard and chopped herbs until smooth, then add a little cucumber juice to make the sauce more palatable. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Gently mix the ingredients in the bowl with the sauce and let it sit for an hour. Of course, the salad could be enhanced with other ingredients, but in the GDR era, there weren’t that many, and people made do quite well with such mixtures. I still make it the same way today.
