Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 flatbread(s)
  • 2 large onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1 kg gyros meat
  • 1 cup of cream, approx. 200 g
  • 350 g coleslaw
  • 1 cup of quark cream (potato cream) or tzatziki or aioli, approx. 200 g
  • 500 g cheese, grated
  • 3 ml Sambal Oelek, according to taste

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Place the seasoned gyro meat in a pan and fry with 1 1/2 onions. Add cream and, if desired, sambal oelek and let it reduce slightly. Cut the flatbread in half crosswise and spread the bottom half with potato cream, tzatziki, or aioli. Spread the cooked gyro from the pan onto the flatbread. Sprinkle the grated cheese on the gyro. Place in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) on the oven rack on the middle shelf until the cheese has melted. Once the cheese has melted, add the remaining half an onion and the coleslaw to the burger. Fold over with the top half of the bread and return to the oven until the bread is slightly crispy.
