Glazed chestnuts (marrons)

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 150 g chestnut(s), possibly frozen
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 200 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 3 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 23 minutes

Without alcohol, as a side dish to game

Thaw the chestnuts. Caramelize the sugar in a small pan by heating it gently until it is golden yellow and liquid. Do not stir! Once the sugar has melted, add the water. Caution: It will sizzle and the sugar will settle to the bottom. This is normal and will pass. Add the chestnuts and let them simmer. Make sure there is always some liquid in the pan. Mix well at the end so the caramel coats the chestnuts.
