Gnocchi and Brussels Sprouts Casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g gnocchi, from the refrigerated counter
  • 1 kg Brussels sprouts, fresh or 750 g frozen
  • 2 onions
  • 150 g diced ham
  • 1 cup crème fraîche
  • 200 g cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Fat for the mold
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Trim the Brussels sprouts, cut a cross into the stalk, and boil in salted water until al dente. Cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions. Cut the onions into fairly small cubes and sauté them with the ham cubes in a teaspoon of oil. In a lightly greased casserole dish, combine the Brussels sprouts, gnocchi, and the onion and bacon mixture. Season with freshly ground black pepper, if desired. Mix the crème fraîche with the cheese and spread it over the casserole. Bake in the oven on the middle rack at 250°C (top/bottom heat) for about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how brown you want the crust.
