Grandma Irmgard's cucumber salad with mayonnaise

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 cucumber(s)
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 shot of milk
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 10 minutes

First, peel the cucumber and slice it with a cucumber slicer. Sprinkle the cucumber in a colander with salt to drain the water. Meanwhile, prepare the salad dressing: Put 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise in a bowl, add a splash of milk, dice the onion, and any seasonings you like (I always add a splash of each of the basic spices). Mix everything together. Gently squeeze the salted cucumber slices with a clean kitchen towel and then add them to the salad dressing. The cucumber salad tastes best when it’s left to stand for a few hours before eating.
