Grandma's mulled wine

Spread the love

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 1 bottle of red wine, sweet
  • 1 bottle of sweet white wine
  • 1 bottle of orange juice
  • 1 cup of cognac
  • 1 liter black tea
  • 1 orange(s)
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 8 carnations
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 8 tbsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 2 hours

The best thing to keep warm in the winter.

Slice the orange and stud with cloves. Slice the lemon as well. Combine all ingredients except the cognac in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer gently for about half an hour. Now add a cup of cognac and simmer for another 15 minutes. Season to taste. The lemon might overpower the flavor. I solved this problem by adding half an orange. Now let it steep for a bit, and your winter warmer is ready.
