Grandma’s Traditional mixed Vegetables

The perfect grandma’s traditional mixed vegetables recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 300 g Carrots
  • 30 g Branded butter
  • 1 small Diced onion
  • 2 Pinches Salt
  • 2 Pinches Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • 200 g Frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoon Cream
  • 1 bunch Chopped parsley
  1. Peel, wash and cut the carrots into small pieces. Melt the butter in a saucepan and allow the onion cubes to become translucent. Add the carrots and sauté them for a moment.
  2. Sprinkle salt and sugar over it, add 2 tablespoons of water (no more!), Put a lid on the pan and steam the carrots over a mild heat for about 6 minutes. Then add the frozen peas and cover with the lid and cook for another 5 minutes.
  3. Finally fold in the chopped parsley with the cream, season to taste and serve.
  4. Grandma’s recipes still fascinate me today because they can conjure up such tasty dishes with such modest ingredients – and without the modern “frills” with exotic additions.
