Grandma's vanilla pudding with cream

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 liter whole milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 packets of vanilla pudding powder
  • 1 tsp, heaped cornstarch
  • some water
  • 5 tbsp, heaped sugar
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 2 packs of cream stiffener

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 12 hours 30 minutes

Bring the milk and salt to a boil. Combine the vanilla pudding, cornstarch, and water. Add to the boiling milk and stir constantly until thickened. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the sugar. Cover the pudding and let it cool, preferably overnight. Stir the cold pudding until smooth. Combine the whipped cream with the vanilla sugar and cream stabilizer and whip until stiff peaks form. Fold the cream into the pudding.
