Gratinated mozzarella meatballs in tomato sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 125g mozzarella
  • 2 cans tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 bag(s) of grated cheese, approx. 200 g
  • 1 onion(s), chopped
  • 1 garlic clove(s), chopped
  • 1 tsp sambal oelek
  • 125 g low-fat curd cheese
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Low carb suitable

Combine the minced meat, low-fat curd cheese, half an onion, and half a garlic clove and mix until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Cut the mozzarella into small cubes (about 20 pieces), shape the minced meat into small balls, and add a cube of mozzarella to each one. Briefly fry. Mix the chopped tomatoes, sambal oelek, and the remaining onion and garlic clove. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Place half of the pieces in a baking dish. Add the meatballs and pour over the remaining tomato sauce. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan oven) for about 20 minutes.
